Meet The Pilates Mentor

Hi! I’m LaBriece.

Why have me be your Pilates mentor?

I will help you to TRANSFORM YOUR TEACHING OF THE PILATES METHOD AND BECOME THE VERY BEST PILATES INSTRUCTOR YOU CAN BE.

It is my professional mission, as a Balanced Body Master Instructor of the Pilates Method and Bodhi Suspension System, to help other Pilates instructors truly understand what, why and how they are teaching Pilates. Yes, I like teaching my clients and I also like teaching instructor training students, but who I LOVE is to teach already existing Pilates instructors how to become even better. That is what I’m passionate about.

My approach to teaching Pilates is catered to the healthy body, men and athletes. I was a competitive athlete my entire youth and as a young adult. I did so many sports! My main one was collegiate rowing. I also played high school basketball for California Division 1 champions. Baseball, softball, beach volleyball, flag football, ultimate frisbee, wind surfing, gymnastics, swimming and as a very young child ballet.

I came to Pilates with this varied sports background and with a healthy body. Not injured and not as a dancer. Although having danced both as a young child and during my university days, I do understand the dancer’s perspective and their body’s particular needs. I myself didn’t start Pilates until I was 30 and had already had my first child. Since then I had two more children and have a deep understanding of the positive affects that Pilates has on the pre- and post-natal body and recovery from childbirth. I also have trained many children in the Pilates Method, including, of course, my own three. As I turn 49 this summer, I feel stronger and healthier than ever before in my life, and I credit this in large part to my dedication to the Pilates Method.

I am diligent, perceptive, accountable, dependable, honest and kind. I will tell it like it is. I don’t fluff over things or give you only what you want to hear. But if I do compliment you, you can trust that I mean what I say and that it is deserved.

Always keep in mind my favorite trade words to live by:

“Take the Pilates Method seriously, but do not take yourself seriously!” ~LaBriece
